AFTER THE STORMY NIGHT

After the stormy night
There comes a grey dawn.
Then, I lay in the silence of my fear –
That feeling now has gone.

After the nightmare's hold has been broken,
Shattered like glass,
After the captive dreamer has woken
Memories pass,
Swept from the reach of all recollection –
Scattered by winds
Blowing in each and every direction.
Take me too!

Under a starry sky,
Sleep-walker, once I kept
Rendezvous with a dark enchantress,
Imprisoned as I slept.

Oh but,
After emotion's spell has been broken,
Shattered like glass,
After the captive lover has woken
Memories pass,
Swept from the reach of all recollection –
Scattered by winds
Blowing in each and every direction.
Take me too!

Was there a moon-lit isle
Where love found its eclipse,
Where I drowned in the ocean of her eyes,
Drank nectar from her lips?

After the hour-glass had been broken,
Time out of hand,
Grain after grain, love's island eroded,
Spilling like sand
Swept from the reach of all resurrection –
Scattered by waves
Flowing in each and every direction.
Take me too! Take me with you.
