AQUEOUS DISPERSED PIGMENTS
Aqueous dispersed pigments are highly concentrated forms of pigment in a liquid base. A small amount goes a long way in colouring your pulps. Pigments, which tend to be more lightfast than dyes, are preferred by papermakers. You can achieve fine pastels or intense colours with aqueous dispersed pigments. Retention agent is needed to bond pigments to fibres. Use 15 ml to saturate a lb of pulp.

LUSTER PIGMENTS
For papers full of metallic sparkle or with slivers of sheen use luster pigments. Lusters are coated mica particles that, with the aid of retention, attach to pulp fibres. Luster pigments can also be added after colouring a pulp to give sparkly highlight. Instructions included.

PULP PAINTING
Pulp Paints are a great way to add splashes of color to paper. Cotton linters, processed for four hours in a Hollander, provide short fibres that pass easily through squirt bottles. After colouring and sizing the pulp, water is drained off to get a concentrated form of the pulp paint. Fill squirt bottle 2/3 full with water, add 2-3 tablespoons of concentrated pulp and diluted formation aid. Shake and paint! Instructions are included. See Featured Article: Introduction to Pulp Painting.
Pulp Painting Kit - 3 squeeze bottles, 125 ml (1/2 cup) each of three concentrated pulps of your choice*, formation aid, and instructions. $21.95
Concentrated Coloured Pulp for Painting - Choose your colours: red; black; yellow; blue; green; violet; orange; pearlescent white; aztec gold on yellow; antique gold, silver, bronze; and/or any earth powdered pigment. 125 ml of concentrated pulp makes up to five squeeze bottles of pulp paint. | ||
