VERTIGO CAPRICE

When near you, all my senses twirl and twist –
I'm on emotion's precipice,
And slipping
Into infatuation's vertigo;
The pace of passion will not slow,
It's whipping along.

Can't seem to stop that painted top
Spinning around inside my head;
Those coloured wheels make me feel
Giddy – I don't know where to tread.

Devotion is a tightrope exercise:
With pole of faith and hope held high
I stepped out
On wires electrified, above the floor
They stretch, a hundred feet or more,
They swept me ahead.

If I look down towards the ground
Maybe my fears will take control.
My balance lost, I'll tumble off –
Will you be there to break my fall?

My heart is pounding deep inside my breast,
My pulse-rate's high ... you know the rest
(I love you).
Forgive me if these lines look like clichés;
I'll breathe new life into old phrases –
Just give me the chance.

It may sound trite, but here tonight,
Baby, the stars all shine for us,
The moon is bright, the feeling's right;
I know that I'll never get enough

Of romance, sentimental interludes
Created to enhance the mood
Of evening.
Come join me on my private carousel,
Surrender to its dizzy spells,
Believe in its charms.

Don't want to stop that painted top
Spinning around inside my head;
Those coloured wheels make me feel
Giddy – I don't know where to tread.

In this vertigo caprice.
