15th century stained
glass, depicting Norwich merchant and three-time mayor Thomas Elys
(portrayed in his red mayoral robe and black cap of office) and his
wife Margaret (her original head later replaced by that of a saint)
at their devotions in a chapel within the parish church;
the Elys family arms appear on the side of the prayer-desk.
The couple were among the donors towards the rebuilding of the church
(including towards the cost of creating the stained glass window in
which this panel originally appeared, before being moved to its
