Brock, Susan, The Four Part Framework, Gainesville, FL: Centre for Applications of Psychological Type, 1987, 2 pp + Leader's Guide

Although this handout has been around for quite a while, it is worth another look if you haven’t used it before. It doesn’t actually use the 8 Preference words. It is something you could use with a group without ever referring to Jung/Myers theory.

You don’t have to talk about Extraversion or Introversion, but it is a useful concept to know that some people like to talk things out while others like to think things through first. Similarly, the handout looks at the other three dimensions of behaviour. Without a lot of jargon people can hold these four concepts in their minds as they deal with other people. The other side of the page gives suggestions on what to do once you have decided the person you are communicating with likes to talk it out or think it through, etc.

While topics such as Type Dynamics and Development are very useful, first it is important to help people understand these basic preference concepts and to implement them in their daily lives. This handout is a simple way to get those ideas across.
