Professional Handout Review by Jack Falt
Clarke, C.L., Manager Communication and Type,
Gainesville, FL: Centre for Applications of Psychological Type,
1987, 1999, 2 pp, Practitioner’s Guide - 2 pp
This handout is to help mangers do their job better. There are suggestions
about giving instructions to each of the eight preferences. E.g. “With
Ts, explain the logic of the approach and why it makes sense. Keep the
actual instructions fairly technical.” “With Fs, begin with a personal
exchange, explain the value of the approach, and why it will be good for
people. Keep the actual instructions fairly warm and personal.”
There are also comments for giving job performance feedback for each
of the preferences. Also, there are key ideas to remember when there is
conflict and how each preference is likely to react.
This handout is not only useful for managers but for anyone working
with people, particularly volunteers.
