As you can see from the date of publishing, this set of cards has
been available for a number of years. It is a set of 48 quotes, mostly
from famous people. The challenge is for people to guess which preference
of the eight preferences the quote represents. There are four cards that
give the answers, one card that could be used as a score card, and a set
of instructions. The four answer cards allows you to split up a large group
into four smaller groups, give each group a small number of cards, and
then have one person act as the official scorer for the group.
The quotes are fairly sophisticated and are not all that easy. I would think that it would be most useful with a group that has had a fair bit of experience with type rather than with a group who has just been introduced to it. I have found with my ongoing group when I have tried to use fairly simple questions, they have difficulty. I find that they can understand what I am talking about, but are not as good at mentally making the leap of coming up with the words called for.
Sample quote from the Challenge Cards: “Use a sweet tongue, courtesy and gentleness, and thou mayest manage to guide an elephant with a hair.” by Gulistan. (Feeling). I wonder how many of the forty-eight quotes an MBTI® trained facilitator would get.
These questions could also be incorporated into the MBTInaire game we played at the November 2002 O.A.A.P.T. Conference.
