Booklet Review by Jack Falt
The unique feature about this booklet is the personality development description given, describing the normal pattern of development of the hierarchy of mental functions or cognitive processes. It also describes what is meant by individuation as theorized by Jung.
Basic Jung/Myers theory is well laid out so that people can go home and read up on what they missed in the presentation. Stress and the Inferior Function are described, and also the four Temperament groups.
Each of the sixteen types is described in detail on two pages for each type: strengths, potential weaknesses, communication, relationships, learning, at work, careers, team role, and leadership style. Stress is described under causes, behaviour under stress, and how to reduce stress. Leisure and recreation are examined. Then there is a one column chart with detailed description of the development of the type.
I have used this booklets in my own workshops. I chose it because it touched on so many basic topics. I like to have a minimum of a one-day workshop. I spend the morning introducing the topic and administering the type instrument. Then in the afternoon I lead the group through type dynamics and type development. One topic that is often requested is dealing with stress. So in booklet I have all the basic information that I want the participants to have to take away for further study.
